JCI Sidon, UNIC Beirut Launch Advocacy Campaign on SDGs
The Junior Chamber International- Sidon (JCI Sidon) has kicked off an advocacy campaign on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cooperation with UNIC Beirut that includes a series of workshops.

The first workshop convened at Sidon’s municipality in south Lebanon and gathered representatives from a number of NGOs. It included an introductory session about the SDGs and a detailed explanation on Goal 11 entitled, “Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”.

The moderators of the workshop were Adib Nehme, Regional Advisor on SDGs at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and Sukaina Al Nasrawi, Associate Statistician at ESCWA 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Unit, who conducted two interactive sessions. The workshop allowed participants to acquire a broader and deeper knowledge on all aspects related to the achievement of these goals, with a specific focus on Goal 11.

It is worth noting that UNIC Beirut launched in March a one-year partnership with JCI Lebanon in its three Chapters: Beirut, Sidon and the American University of Beirut (AUB). The partnership aims at promoting the role of youth, and helping them achieve their priorities in line with the SDGs.

The Junior Chamber International is an international non-profit organization that groups around 200,000 young men and women active in their communities and who consecrate their work for the sake of inflicting positive change. JCI have so far implemented at least 5,000 projects in 120 countries aimed at providing needed solutions for local problems to create a sense of international sustainability.
