UN communicators brief students in Lebanon about ins and outs of world body
Hundreds of Lebanese students from a number of schools across Lebanon have been briefed on the UN system’s composition, main mandates, the work and operations of UN agencies in Lebanon, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals and the Together Campaign.

The Teach-in sessions, which are part of an outreach project organized by UNIC Beirut and UNESCO entitled “UN Aware Certificate”, kicked-off in December and will continue until early February.

This UN Aware initiative, aims at educating high-school students on the work and priorities of the UN and will be implemented as a pilot project in the current academic year 2016-2017. It includes lectures, field activities and fundraising campaigns in around 13 schools.

Communication officers from various UN agencies and missions including, UNIC Beirut, UNESCO, UNSCOL, UNIFIL, UNDP, WHO and UNHCR visited schools separately and interacted with students, who fielded a plethora of questions on refugees, peacekeeping, women issues and SDGs, to name a few.
